BGDG X Talladega College
In November 2022, Talladega College Athletic Director, Michael Grant reached out to the BGDG Founder to inquire about a gymnastics team. He said they were ready to roll and wanted the help of BGDG X HBCU Gymnastics Alliance! In December 2022, BGDG Founder (Derrin Moore) and BGDG Director of Sports Medicine (Dr. Courtney Johnson) met with Dr. Gregory Vincent (Talladega President) and Mr. Michael Grant (Athletic Director) in Atlanta to discuss the logistics behind setting up a team and what The Alliance can bring to the table.
On January 14, 2023, Talladega College announced their new gymnastics program with the help of the HBCU Gymnastics Alliance alongside the Fisk Interim President (Frank Sims) and Trustee (Frank Simmons). It was a monumental moment for HBCU Gymnastics. The camaraderie shown at the event was contagious and we can’t wait to see who launches next!
In February 2023, Coach Aja Sims-Fletcher was named Head Coach of the new Talladega Gymnastics Team. She is already off to an amazing start. Now who’s ready to see Fisk and Talladega on the Floor together?!
